Kemeriahan pesta tahun baru masih terasa. Di beberapa tempat ornament lampu hias yang memadati jalan masih belum dibongkar. Demikianpun kandang-kandang natal di rumah-rumah masih terpasang. Sebuah pemandangan biasa di awal tahun 2018. Saling mengunjungi dalam cengkrama penuh joke (lelucon) menciptakan suasana akrab dan bahagia. Seraya menghabiskan aneka kue yang masih tersisa dengan berbagai kisah natal dan tahun baru.

Saya berada di rumah seorang sahabat saat membaca sebuah postingan media sosial facebook dari akun seorang yang saya kenal. Sebuah lawatan yang tertunda kali lalu. Postingan ini sungguh menohok jantung kesadaran akan kerapuhan kodrati manusia: Pius Hamid telah pergi. Sontak saya mengontak keluarga. Ada yang terkejut, ada yang tak percaya, ada pula yang rela. Akhirnya, kami semua berkumpul, merencanakan hal yang perlu untuk menyikapi peristiwa kepergian sang aktivis itu.

Tulisan ini adalah sebuah sedimentasi memori atas kehidupan Pius Hamid. Sebuah tulisan yang lahir dari rahim kedekatan seorang adik terhadap kakak, sahabat terhadap sahabat, aktivis untuk aktivis. Sebuah letupan emosional yang dibingkai dalam alur rasional seraya membawanya dalam refleksi kritis tentang dialektika yang indah antara konsep, kata-kata dan aksi.

Pemberani

Lelaki itu menjadi bahan obrolan santai pun serius di tahun 2003-2004. Manggarai kala itu ditimpa bencana yang menimbulkan prahara kematian bagi lima orang petani dari Colol, desa Uluwae. Mereka tertimpa timah panas dari polisi saat melakukan protes terhadap penangkapan tujuh orang petani yang dituduh merambah hutan di wilayah itu pada 10 Maret 2004. Tubuh bersimbah darah. Penuh luka. Ditembak oleh polisi tanpa ampun. Bupati Manggarai kala itu, Drs. Antony Bagul Dagur M.Si dianggap memiliki kebijakan kontroversial karena menertibkan kawasan yang ditengarai kawasan hutan Negara pada lingko-lingko (kebun komunal) masyarakat.
Kritikan terhadap kebijakan itu dilakukan massif. Lembaga-lembaga swadaya masyarakat turun ke jalan. Salah satunya adalah LSM local Sankari yang dipimpin oleh Pius Hamid. Kerja link dengan lembaga luarpun tak terelakan hingga memengaruhi Komas HAM untuk turun ke Colol menyaksikan sendiri akibat dari kebijakan pemerintah kabupaten Manggarai saat itu. Pius berani menyuarakan kebenaran tentang kebijakan yang salah arah itu. Demonstrasi dilakukan bersama rekan-rekan seperjuangan dalam kerja tim multilembaga.
Harus diakui bahwa kematian lima orang: Frans Magur (60), Yosef Tatuk (23), Vitalis Jarut (23) , Domi Amput (40) dan Maximus Toi (45) dan derita cacat total bagi yang masih hidup seakan tak menggemingkan pemerintah saat itu. Berbagai aksi pembelaan yang normative tetap dijalankan pemerintah dan kepolisian. Bahkan kedatangan para petani yang ingin mencari keluarganya yang ditahan polisi dianggap serangan oleh polisi sehingga layak dibalas dengan tembakan senjata api. Dalam seluruh peristiwa yang disebut “Rabu Berdarah” itu, Pius menjadi salah satu lokomotif perlawanan terhadap arogansi kekuasaan melalui suara kritis yang produktif.
Usaha ini kemudian tidak membuahkan hasil maksimal. Keadilan yang diharapkan menjadi pemenang dari seluruh proses, kandas entah pada level mana. Seakan mengamini slogan “penguasa menang di segala lini”, para polisi yang terlibat dalam kasus penembakan itu (empat perwira, 19 bintara polisi dan mantan Kapolres Manggarai kala itu, AKBP Boni Tompoi) yang sebelumnya ditetapkan sebagai tersangka, divonis bebas. Sedangkan sekitar 15 orang petani meringkuk di balik jeruji besi dan puluhan mengalami cacat akibat tembakan senjata api.

Melayani Orang Desa
Keberanian Pius tidak muncul begitu saja. Keberanian, sebagai salah satu keutamaan cardinal dalam konteks budaya latin, adalah sebuah capaian dari proses yang panjang. Ada kebiasaan untuk membaca situasi, merefleksikannya dan membangun komitmen demi terlibat memberikan solusi. Kebiasaan ini, dalam tuturan seorang sahabatnya, Frans Laja S.Fil-Manajer Koperasi Kredit Aman, terbangun melalui diskursus filsafat a la Kantian yang dipelopori oleh Immanuel Kant (1724-1804). Karya Immanuel Kant yang erat bertalian dengan epistemology, yakni ilmu yang membahas kebenaran pengetahuan manusia, yakni Kritik der reinen Vernunf (1781), Kritik der praktischen Vernunf (1788) dan Kritik der Urteilskraft (1790) menjadi referensi olah pikir untuk mengembangkan ide-ide dalam dirinya.
Dalam judul-judul bukunya, Kant memilih menggunakan kata “Kritik” (critique) untuk buku-buku yang ditulisnya. Arti ‘Kritik’ disini tidak melulu dimaksudkan sebagai evaluasi negatif akan suatu obyek tertentu, tetapi sebagai suatu refleksi kritis yang hasilnya berpeluang positif ataupun negative.
Sealur dengan refleksi epistemologi Kant yang hendak merumuskan sebuah jembatan raksasa untuk membuat sintesis antara rasionalisme dan empirisme, Pius, menurut Frans Laja, ada dalam dialektika itu sepanjang hidupnya. Ia ingin menunjukkan kegagalan Rasionalisme yang menyatakan bahwa sumber pengetahuan adalah rasio saja. Pengalaman empiris hanya menegaskan apa yang telah sebelumnya telah diketahui oleh rasio. Konsep aliran Empirisme persis berpendapat sebaliknya: hanya segala sesuatu yang merupakan pengalaman inderawi sajalah yang bisa dijadikan sebagai dasar pengetahuan manusia.
Pertautan konsep rasionalisme-empirisme nyata pada sistesis keduanya. Ide-ide tentang kemiskinan pada masyarakat harus disandingkan dengan rencana aksi mengeluarkan orang miskin dari kemiskinan itu. Itulah yang menyebabkan dia memilih hidup mengabdikan dirinya pada lembaga swadaya masyarakat besutannya: Sankari. Sankari melalui program yang disokong banyak funding (pendana) membangun ekonomi petani melalui program pertanian berkelanjutan di desa-desa. Ribuan hektar tanah Manggarai ditanami kopi. Ada banyak kelompok yang mendapat bantuan ternak. Pius ingin menunjukkan bahwa orang yang hanya omong tentang perubahan social, mengumbar kritik tanpa karya seolah menjadi pendekar bagi masyarakat, nyatanya adalah pembohong kelas tengik yang menciderai wacana social dengan penipuan dan slogan kosong!

Suara yang Terus Menggema
Ketakpuasan akan kalahnya petani di hadapan kekuasaan membuat Pius banting stir. Tidak cukup untuk membantu petani jika kebijakan pemerintah tidak mengakomodasi kepentingan petani. Itulah sebanya dia membangun kekuatan petani melalui organisasi yang dibentuknya: Serikat Petani Manggarai (SPM). Ada program advokasi pada petani. Para petani dilatih untuk memahami hak dan kewajibannya di hadapan Negara, disiplin, giat bekerja, berorganisasi. Lebih-lebih Pius mendorong keterlibatan mereka dalam politik praktis.
Pius sendiri kemudian menjadi anggota DPRD Kabupaten Manggarai Timur (2009-2014) dan Sekretaris Partai Amanat Nasional. Pria yang lahir pada 28 Juli 1967 ini berusaha maju lagi dalam Pileg 2014 tapi tidak terpilih lagi. Tekanan hidup yang kian berat dideritanya di saat-saat terakhir hidupnya. Ada banyak orang yang membantu. Dia selalu percaya bahwa ada kebaikan pada setiap orang. Dalam derita yang tak tertahankan lagi karena sakit stroke, Pius kemudian pindah dari Borong ke Buntal, kembali lagi ke desa, mengerjakan sawah, untuk bersama orang desa mewujudkan impian yang belum tercapai. Usaha itu tak pernah purna, pada 6 Januari 2018 Pius menghembuskan nafas terakhir ditemani sang Istri, Ima Gaa. Namun pilihan sikap hidup Pius membela yang benar, menjadi suara yang tetap menggema dalam hidup kita!***
