Beberapa waktu lalu saya mendapat kesempatan dari Yayasan Ayo Indonesia, didukung oleh Yayasan Kehati, untuk menjelajahi 12 Kampung Kopi di Manggarai, Flores, NTT. Perjalanan ini sungguh menyenangkan. Pada kesempatan ini saya membagikan pengalaman tentang perjalanan itu kepada para pembaca.

Sebagian naskah ini pernah dipublikasi oleh Harian Umum Pos Kupang edisi cetak mulai 11 Februari 2021. Saya publikasi juga di sini dengan naskah yang cukup lengkap.

Asal Muasal Kopi Dunia

Literatur tentang kopi mencatat bahwa tanaman kopi mula-mula berasal dari Abyssinia, sebuah daerah di Afrika. Daerah ini mencakup wilayah negara Etiopia dan Eritrea.[1] Sejauh ini, tidak banyak literature yang menjelaskan bagaimana orang-orang Abyssinia membudidayakan tanaman kopi dan mengkonsumsinya. Dari catatan sejarah, kopi sebagai minuman pertama kali dipopulerkan oleh orang-orang Arab. Biji kopi dari Abyssinia dibawa oleh para pedagang Arab ke Yaman dan mulai menjadi komoditas komersial.[2]

Sejak saat itu, bangsa Arab memonopoli perdagangan biji kopi. Mereka mengendalikan perdagangan lewat pelabuhan Mocha, sebuah kota yang terletak di Yaman. Dari pelabuhan Mocha biji kopi diperdagangkan hingga ke Eropa. Saat itu Mocha menjadi satu-satunya gerbang lalu-lintas perdagangan biji kopi, sampai-sampai orang Eropa menyebut kopi sebagai Mocha.[3]

Di abad ke-17 orang-orang Eropa mulai mengembangkan perkebunan kopi sendiri. Pertama-tama mereka mengembangkannya di Eropa, namun iklim di sana tidak cocok untuk tanaman kopi. Kemudian mereka mencoba membudidayakan tanaman tersebut di daerah jajahannya yang tersebar di berbagai penjuru bumi. Upayanya berhasil, orang-orang Eropa mampu menggeser dominasi bangsa Arab dalam memproduksi kopi.[4]

  2. Bagi saya orang” Abyssinia sangat bersyukur,karena bisa membudidayakan tanaman kopi dan mengkonsumsinya.Dan bisa menjadi minuman pertama kali dipopulerkan oleh orang” Arab.

Dilihat dari sejarahnya, tanaman kopi berasal dari daerah Afrika hingga bisa kita temui sekarang di Indonesia khususnya tanah Manggarai, menjadi makna terdalam bagi kita bahwa ada hal istimewa selain kenikmatan dari kopi yang bisa kita temui. Menurut saya, selain kenikmatan dan harumnya kopi, ada makna yang bisa saya dapatkan ketika menikmati kopi. Ada motivasi yang tersirat dalam kopi, seperti memberikan semangat dalam memulai aktivitas. Selain karena kebiasaan, kopi menjadi hal utama yang harus ada dalam keseharian saya.

Menurut saya kopi merupakan salah satu minuman yang sudah tidak diragukan lagi kenikmatannya.salah satu produsen kopi yang memiliki citarasa unik dan nikmat, tanaman kopi tumbuh subur diflores dengan hasil yang sangat memuaskan.berikut ini ada beberapa keunggulan kopi yang sangat populer diseluruh dunia.
    1. Pembudidayaan secara organik
    2. Memiliki aroma dan cita rasa yang khas
    3. Memiliki tingkat kesamaan yang seimbang

    Karena banyak petani di Manggarai berhasil (kaya) dengan menjual kopi. Dan kopi salah satu minuman khas orang Manggarai.
